To the Editor:

As a geriatric care manager and social worker, I think readers should be aware of the additional organizations dealing with the problems that relatives of the aging can face, which include the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers (520-881-8008) and the Greater New York Chapter of the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers (212-222-9163). As a clinically trained private practitioner, I am a member of both organizations, providing intervention and care-giving services to individuals and families.

Although the experience of the author was enlightening and ultimately resolved favorably, intervention from a trained clinician can provide expert services that are critical to identifying needs of the elderly and disabled.

The legal proceedings and good intentions are only a partial solution.
